We have a rug in the kitchen which has become the "waiting rug." Both dogs choose to go to this rug to wait. They wait on the rug for their dinners to be prepared. They wait for medicine. They wait for us to finish at the kitchen table. They wait for play time. I don't know how the rug has become the waiting spot, but it has for both dogs. Both Emme and Rudy seem to make rules for their environment and this rug has rules. You go there to wait.
