After watching Emme and Rudy struggle over a toy that they both want, Ken and I often say, in jest, "It is a shame that the dogs have only one toy. Maybe some day we should buy a second toy so they each could have one to play with."
No matter which toy one dog picks up, both need to have that toy, and only that toy, right now. They tug and play growl at each other. If one tires of the game and drops the toy, so does the other one. They only want it if the other one has it.
